Last read book: How Linux Works, 2nd Edition

Just have finished reading the book How Linux Works, 2nd Edition. I enjoyed reading it. It makes me better understand the current state of Linux and its ecosystem. I can recommend this book...

Here is the content:
Chapter 1: The Big Picture
Chapter 2: Basic Commands and Directory Hierarchy
Chapter 3: Devices
Chapter 4: Disks and Filesystems
Chapter 5: Linux Booting: Boot Loaders and Kernel
Chapter 6: How User Space Starts
Chapter 7: System Configuration: Logging, System Time, Batch Jobs, and Users
Chapter 8: A Closer Look at Processes and Resource Utilization
Chapter 9: Understanding Your Network and Its Configuration
Chapter 10: Network Applications and Services
Chapter 11: Introduction to Shell Scripts
Chapter 12: Moving Files Across the Network
Chapter 13: User Environments
Chapter 14: A Brief Survey of the Linux Desktop
Chapter 15: Development Tools
Chapter 16: Compiling Software from Source Code
Chapter 17: Building on the Basics

The book gives you the building blocks and directions in exploring your system. Almost every chapter can be the theme of a new book.
First you are given an overview of the system, than you are given the overview of basic commands.
Than you get the knowledge of drives, partitioning and bootloaders.
Bootloader section is dedicated to systemd and upstart init services.
Big plus is that it also gives a basic knowledge of networks and it configuration.

After I have read the book I can say that it structure is very logical, because you are moving from the hardware parts of system to the software, that ties the hardware.

Also book contains the list of bibliography.
Here is what draw my attention:

I have to say that this book is not for novice users but for those who have some basic knowledge about the system. For novices I can recommend Running Linux, 5th Edition . Happy reading!
